Nike Indoor League

Tennessee Soccer Club announces the inaugural NIKE Indoor League. For the first time our club is offering indoor soccer games in a league format for all Tennessee SC players ages U7 through U14. Players will sign up in Blue Sombrero. Our coaches are thrilled about this opportunity for their players and want them to participate.

This league will blend players from the north and the south and the coaches will divide them onto evenly matched teams across the entire age group.

Don’t miss this exciting and highly competitive opportunity. Registration deadline is December 1, 2012.

Teams and schedules will be announced mid-December. For more information and to register, please follow the link below:

TSC coaches Cal Long and Brandy Gagliano both brought home TSSAA Championships to Brentwood HS and CPA. Other respective divisions and programs saw success as TSC players on FRA and Father Ryan brought home State Championships as well. Results from the TSSAA Championships are listed below. Huge congratulations to all our players and coaches making it to the State Playoffs.

As the older girls begin training, we welcome new TSC coach Kelsey Phenix. Kelsey will be coaching our U15 Select team. She is a former standout and captain for the University of Kentucky. While at Kentucky, Kelsey won an SEC Championship and later went on to play professionally for the Charlotte Lady Eagles. Kelsey is now working on her Master's Degree at Lipscomb University while assisting the Women's Soccer program. Welcome Kelsey!!

Our TSC 14 and TSC 16 (2012 USYSA National Finalist) begin National League play the end of November in Raleigh, NC. Girls Director of Coaching Hans Hobson stated, "This is a huge success and first for the club. Becoming a part of this league will only help future teams to also be seen as possible contenders." The league will take place over the course of two weekends. Each age group is broken into two divisions that will involve the top 14 teams in the nation. The top 2 finishers in this league will be given an automatic bid to the USYSA National Championships. We wish both teams much luck!

u9-u14 Girls:
Beginning its inaugural fall, the Tennessee Soccer Club girls have entered and won tournaments in every age group all over TN, GA, NC, AL, and Ohio.

Assistant Director of Coaching Laban DeFriese stated, "The u9-u14 girls Tennessee Soccer Club Fall has been extraordinary. Our academy teams have been very strong in competition and developing players and our u13-14 teams in every division have clearly demonstrated they will be a competitive force on the club circuit this year. It’s exciting to see our teams play."

The coaches and players will be working hard this winter with players playing indoor futsal and participating in the Tennessee Nike Indoor League. Coaches will be doing player evaluations, creating tournament spring schedules, and preparing for a great spring.

Director of Girls Coaching Hans Hobson stated, "This Spring is going to be very exciting for all the players, teams, and coaches. Everyone is on the same page and working hard to meet the expectations and goals laid down at the first of the year. We look forward to making the Tennessee Soccer Club the best in the South."

Boys State Cup 2012
This was a very big weekend for our inaugural Tennessee State Cup as a new club. We had a total of 14 teams from our club participate. Eight teams in Division 1, five teams in Division 2 and one team in Division 3. This was more representation than any other club in the state. We are proud of the fact that we had three winners out of the five age groups in Division 1. They were U16 Boys Premier coached by Josh Severns, U17 Boys coached by Kenny Heckman and U18 Boys coached by Bryan Johnson. Our U16 Boys coached by Tommy Cochran earned 3rd place and our U15 Boys coached by Robbie Stewart earned 3rd place.

In Division 2 our U14 Boys Elite won their first state cup and were coached by Randy Johnson.

At Tennessee Soccer club we are very proud of our coaching staff and their desire to continue their soccer education. The highest license attainable in the USA is the USSF A license and we are very proud of the fact that we have more A, B and C license holders than any other club in TN. On the boys side alone we have seven A licensed coaches, eight B licensed coaches and 9 C licensed coaches, with our younger coaches on track to follow suit.

We are a club that encourages our staff to continue to learn and we feel that this is another reason why we continue to be successful. The future is bright and we hope to continue this path of education and success for our coaches and players.

Coaches Education

Tennessee Soccer Club kicked off its coaching education program this Fall with renowned soccer educator Wayne Harrison. Wayne has written many books on soccer and has vast experience in youth soccer having been the Director of the center of excellence at Blackpool F.C in England as well as Director of youth development at AL AIN F.C in the United Arab Emirates. Wayne is currently the boy’s Developmental Academy Director at San Diego Surf club in Southern California. Wayne provided field sessions for our academy age players as well as our older age groups and also conducted classroom education for our coaches. Both sessions were very well attended.

Our second coaches’ education was conducted by ex-professional player and coach, Ted MacDougal. Ted played in England for teams like Liverpool F.C, Manchester Utd F.C. West Ham Utd F.C and FC Bournemouth among others. Ted who was a prolific goal scorer did a session on creating space and movement off the ball with a good finishing session that everyone enjoyed.

In addition our very own Jose Londono and Graham Whitehouse conducted a coaching education night for our academy age players and coaches, which were very well attended. We are off to a great start as a club and we will continue to bring in experts that will help to keep us abreast of the latest advances in the game, so that we can in turn produce the best players possible for our club here in middle Tn.
